Falmouth Nub News recently broke the story on Falmouth KFC closing its doors for good after this upcoming Sunday (February 2nd).

It is fair to say that Falmouth went a bit crazy over the news - some with joy and some with immense sadness.

Judging by the reaction on our social media and beyond, the town is now divided by the loss of the bucket.

We wanted to take a look into the reactions to find out the general consensus on losing the chicken hotspot.

Someone was really not pleased with the loss, stating:

"If this is true... Forget Megan and Harry stepping down, Brexit and the flu epidemic... THIS IS A REAL CRISIS! Only good thing is I'll probably lose LOADS of weight!"

Another commenter managed to see the bright side, saying: "They best put Burger King in its place if KFC's going!"

Another commenter was less hopeful, stating: "I'm not happy I loved my beans"

Sarah Croft wrote: "The day I come back to Falmouth is its last day of trading? A sign from the colonel?"

A large majority of the social media reaction was not confusion or sadness but instead a time for celebration.

Kerry Prynn commented: "Good riddance!"

Dan West stated: "The only KFC I acknowledge is the Penzance one... it's the OG!"

We recently made a poll to see whether you were glad or sad to see KFC leave the town, you can vote by pressing the red button below.
