Yellow weather warning issued to Falmouth

The Met Office has issued Falmouth a yellow weather warning for Sunday (9th February) due to Storm Ciara.

The storm is due to bring in extremely high winds which may see some disruption to public travel.

Gusts of up to 70mph are expected around coastal areas so it is important that people show precaution when travelling or near the coast.

The Met Office has said to expect:

  • Injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible
  • Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen
  • Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible
  • Some roads and bridges may close
  • Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
