Falmouth's Jo Jakeman, author of suspense thrillers 'Sticks and Stones' and 'Safe House' - has released her third novel.

What His Wife Knew launched today (17th) as Cornwall's reputation as a home for literature continues to grow.

Her novels, known for their gripping suspense laced with dark humour, have been sold across Europe, America, and Canada.

Jo moved to Cornwall during the pandemic following the release of her second book, which was set in Cornwall. She told Nub News:

"My husband is Cornish and I've spent much of the past twenty years here. Mystery and suspense are all around. I can't think of a better creative space."

Jo's writing journey has been far from straightforward. In 2016 she won the prestigious Friday Night Live competition at York Festival of Writing only ten days after lifesaving surgery.

That book became her debut, Sticks and Stones. It was shortlisted for the Best Revenge Thriller at the Dead Good Reader Awards 2019.

It's a book that Jo remains proud of.

Like many others, Jo's work has been affected by the pandemic. Her third novel, What His Wife Knew, has been delayed by over a year. At times, she's found it hard to be creative.

This led her to set up an online writing group called Writers' Flock to support other novelists.

Jo continued:

"I knew I wouldn't be the only one struggling. I hoped I'd get a dozen people interested, but we've got over seventy members now."

What His Wife Knew is a gripping suspense novel in which nothing is as it seems. It is a tale of revenge and betrayal but also of family and loyalty, with a final showdown you won't easily forget.

What His Wife Knew is available from Falmouth Bookseller and other high street and online bookstores.
