Businesses on a popular Facebook community group have been calling for high street traders to look out for each other over the festive trading season.

Independent and franchised businesses have called for a united front between stores as shoppers complete their Christmas buying.

The store manager of Wilko Falmouth has offered his support for independent businesses, stating:

"I would like to support any independent business in town in any way I can do…. Like some have said before the high street is a tough environment at the moment, so we all need to help one another to ensure we all have a successful Christmas."

Lewis Nichols, Store Manager of Falmouth Wilko, spoke to Nub News Falmouth:

"There is an opportunity to develop a close-knit community between retailers in Falmouth.

"We can all help one another, especially during the festive periods.

"We all need to do what we can, we are all here for the same cause at the end of the day."

The Facebook community group has also been calling for more positivity and pride in the ownership of stores.

One post from Lara Merril, owner of Vintage Warehouse. 13, reads:

"I spent the day trying to make my shop feel welcoming, colourful and Christmas ready and really hope us locals try and support each other this year.

"It's damn hard at times but worth it with support from others! Would love to see pictures and positivity on this page and chance to use it as a platform to be proud of your shop... who's next?"

Another post from Neil Rowlands, owner of Henrys, said:

"I feel that Falmouth, particularly with its varied demographics and high visitor numbers, is a great opportunity particularly for independents.

"I may well still be new to Falmouth but I love it and see it just as I did when we first came down here to visit 10 years ago.

"I also love the fact that so many people who visit our town see it the same way."
