Falmouth half marathon returns for 10th anniversary

The popular Cornish half marathon known as Run Falmouth is back for 2022 - celebrating its 10th year.

The event is the fourth race in the Cornwall Road Running Grand Prix Series, which is sponsored by Cornwall Glass and will take place on Sunday 13th March.

The 13.1 mile route starts at Pendennis Castle following the coast past the beautiful beaches of Gyllyngvase and Swanpool and glimpsing Maenporth Beach as the route rises to give fabulous views over the bay towards Pendennis Castle.

The route takes place entirely on the road and follows Cornish country lanes featuring open fields and wooded scenes, passing the beautiful Falmouth Golf Course twice.

The run is well supported along the whole route as locals from Falmouth and the surrounding picturesque villages come out to cheer the runners on.

Race Director Jane Appleton from Cornwall Hospice Care, the event's charity partner, told Nub News:

"We weren't able to run the actual event last year because of the pandemic. We ran a virtual version so people could run the distance to suit them, but it's never the same as taking on what is a stunning but equally tough coastal race."

"It works really well as we all bring different expertise to the event. It's a 13.1 mile route with some gruelling hills, offset by spectacular views across the sea

"It's a Grand Prix event but it's also a great way of preparing if you're taking part in the annual London Marathon or just want to stretch yourself and take on a half marathon on home turf."

The race is limited to 800 places only. Online registration is now closed. Registrations will be accepted on the day if places are still available.
