Falmouth Golf Club up for sale as owner plans to retire
Falmouth Golf Club has now been listed on the market with a guide price of £2,750,000 by property specialists Miller Commercial, as David Hughes owner since 2004 plans to retire.
Established in 1894, Falmouth Golf Club moved to its current home during the First World War. After the start of the Second World War, the old clubhouse and most of the golf course were requisitioned by the War Department and all golf stopped.
An anti-aircraft barrage balloon was moored where the new building now stands and some of the military buildings from that time remain at the top of the course.
After the war golf returned and over the years the course was reinstated and improved. In 2019 land was sold to pay for the new clubhouse which finally opened in November 2021.
Miller Commercial say this is a "super opportunity" to buy one of Cornwall's most popular clubs and highlighted what any new owner would be acquiring, they said: "The club has undergone numerous improvements in recent years and most notably in 2021 saw the opening of its stunning new clubhouse and restaurant which has been designed to accommodate not only the membership but also a bar, restaurant, functions, and events business, with the club being licensed for weddings."
Miller Commercial also say that since the opening of the clubhouse they have received consistent growth, the accounts for the year ending August 2022 showed a turnover of £967,808.
