Falmouth: Covid testing sites set to close this week

All covid testing sites in Cornwall are set to close this week.

The government is ending free covid testing from April 1st - meaning testing sites will be closed from this date.

There are currently local walk-in sites at Wellington Terrace Falmouth, Heartlands Car Park Redruth, and Mount Wise Newquay.

The closure comes around the same time covid cases have hit an all-time high in Cornwall.

On Tuesday, March 22nd cases hit the record high of 1,322 per 100,000 a rate which also makes Cornwall the second-highest area for cases in England.

This led to a warning from Cornwall Council's assistant director of public health, Dr Ruth Goldstein who urged people to follow the original covid guidance to help bring Cornwall's case numbers down and protect the NHS.

"Covid hasn't gone away. Keep taking precautions to keep our communities safe," Cornwall Council added.
