An eco-friendly coffee hotspot in Falmouth has added an open bakery serving fresh bagels with a variety of fillings.
Koala Karlous, Killigrew Street, recently secured their alcohol licence in another exciting addition to the business. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the coffee shop is open until late offering a light menu of bagels alongside fries or potato wedges, espresso martinis and mojitos.
The evening menu bagels include the Cuban Bagel with slow-cooked pork shoulder, kewpie mayo, garlic cilantro, Swiss cheese, and the Reuben Bagel with beef patty, relish kraut, and melted cheese, among many others.
Brandon Hargrave, an international music producer, opened the coffee house in December last year.
Brandon told Nub News: "We don't want to push being a bar, we are still a coffee and bagel outlet, but it is just another offering in the evenings.
"You can no longer just serve coffee, you have to adapt your business. We also do clothing, the trucks are doing really well, and the music. We just try to provide the best of everything. We don't save money on buying cheap produce, we buy the best flour, alcohol, best coffee machine.
"I want the place to be as good as it possibly can."
He added: "When we first opened it was just a coffee and brunch place. We quickly stepped away from brunch to offer something new to the town. When I was in the US for a bit I would always find a place to grab a coffee and a bagel. This new direction suits us really well."
Koala Karlous is open Monday to Wednesday 8am-6pm, Thursday to Saturday 8am-10pm, and Sunday 8am-6pm.
