Falmouth Coastguard's patrol leads to the rescuing of four people

By The Editor 16th Sep 2021

Falmouth Coastguard yesterday aided the rescue of two paddleboarders from Swanpool, as well as a couple who had been cut off by the tide at Maenporth.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Coastguard said:

"As we arrived at the beach, we found that a member from the ElementalUK team had paddled out to the pair and taken them to the safety of the rocks where they were met by team members.

"The two casualties were checked over and passed some safety advice, primarily about paddleboarding in a strong offshore wind.

"We then carried on our patrol as far as Maenporth, as soon as we arrived there, we were alerted to a couple who had become cut off by the tide on the north side of the beach.

"Water safety equipment was used and the pair were escorted back to the beach."

"Thanks to 'Lifes a beach' Maenporth for the refreshments.

"While we were out, we noted several paddle boarders really struggling in the wind."

You should always check the conditions before you go out. If you spot anyone in trouble on the coast, dial 999 and ask for COASTGUARD.
