Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were in action this afternoon following reports an individual had fallen off a cliff.

The coastguard was assisted by the South West Ambulance Service, Falmouth RNLI and Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team.

A spokesperson for the coastguard team said:

"On the scene, a male casualty was discovered with an ankle injury.

Due to the location, it was decided to take the gentleman back to Swanpool on the ILB.

"The Paramedic on scene administered some pain relief and working as a team we packaged the casualty up on our Coastguard 'Alpine' stretcher and carefully loaded him onto the ILB.

"All personnel and casualty were then transported back to Swanpool Beach via the ILB and the casualty transferred with the help of Coastguard Rescue Officers on the shore, to a waiting Ambulance for onward care."

The coastguard also praised the response of the other teams, adding:

"Thanks to the Ambulance crew, Falmouth ILB crew and Porthoutstock CRT for the help/transport. Great teamwork from all."
