Sarah Lou a children's book illustrator and author based in Falmouth has recently published a picture book 'You Have A Superpower!' Which follows the journey of her twin sister Katie as she comes to terms with her type 1 diabetes diagnosis as a child and figures out how to navigate her new life with the help of friends and family.

Inside the book: You Have A Superpower

The book portrays real-life events nestled in a fantasy fairytale forest environment, Sarah explained what she hoped the book could achieve, she said: "I made this book with the intention that it would be of help to other children that may be struggling to understand or come to terms with their new diagnosis, and hopefully the underlying message will still inspire kids whether they have diabetes or not."

You Have A Superpower

The book's release coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Sarah's sister's diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, and Sarah says the book is a celebration of her progress and how she's not let it hold her back.

Sarah is hopeful that with this book she can raise awareness for the troubles young people face and provide some much-needed support, she said: "I hope that other children will understand that they have a superpower to overcome their struggles just like Katie."
