The Moth and Moon have announced it will be reopening with new ownership, keeping the same name but steering away from the high-end cocktail route it was previously operating with.

Matt Reay, manager of The Front for fifteen years, will be taking over the former cocktail bar with his wife, Jess Reay, to transform it back into something more traditional.

Matt told Nub News:

"I'm not a cocktail man, I love drinking them but I don't have that genius. We are going to go back to a pub.

"We are bringing some cask ale back in because that was a big miss from this place. We're going to have some traditional hand-pulled cider. Lots of good local drinks.

"You're going to be able to come in for a pint. That warm and welcoming atmosphere you expect from a pub is important to us."

The Moth and Moon announced its shock closure at the beginning of December, since then it has been unknown what will be happening with the business.

The pub on the premises before The Moth and Moon, The Mason's Arms, closed down in 2018.

Work has already started on the building, removing the painted dark green exterior into something more light.

They aim to keep the three floors in operation, including the roof terrace, which will have a gin and fizz bar throughout the summer.
