An amber wind warning has been issued for Falmouth, Penryn, and Cornwall by the Met Office, as Storm Evert is due to sweep across the southwest.

The warning takes effect at 8pm this evening (Thursday, July 29th) and ends at midday on Friday.

A low pressure system will move in from the west. An amber warning is in place for Cornwall, which will see the strongest winds of up to 75mph, with parts of Devon experiencing gusts of 40 to 60mph.

The strong winds could bring down trees and cause damage to temporary outdoor structures. Large waves are expected in coastal areas.
