Combining visual art, movement, story-telling and singing, Melanie Young and Caroline Schanche make up the duo of The Splendid Sisters.

Nub News attended their inaugural service of the Secular Church of The Partially Unfurled, with the performance being supported by a number of organisations including Arts Council England and Cornwall Council.

Nub News caught up with Melanie Young after the performance, she said: "I think it is interesting in a secular society to come and do things collaboratively, how do we commune with each other, I am not religious, but I am sometimes a little bit envious of that community.

"People seemed to have enjoyed it, I know it can be quite an intense experience as it is a very small space, and everyone is very close but everybody has said they liked it."

The performance was set into seven chapters over a half hour period, showcasing a range of captivating images, and a well thought out film being shown throughout.

Caroline Schanche, added: "Having performed in front of audiences of twelve people, the next project we are already brewing is a continuation of this for audiences of two people, fewer people to make the performance more personal – it feels like a good time in our lives to have this excitement."
