There are reports of heavy traffic in Penryn this evening following a burst pipe.

In pictures shared to Nub News, water can be seen flooding the road after a pipe was struck by a "third party".

Some residents and businesses are said to be without water following the burst.

South West Water issued this statement to customers: "A third party has caused damage to our network which may cause some of our customers in Penryn TR10 and TR11 to experience low water pressure than usual or a loss of supply while we undertake emergency repairs.

"Our team are on site working to repair the burst and we will provide an update as we can and would like to thank you for your patience during this time and apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Motorists have said the roads are very busy this evening around Falmouth and Penryn with reports of another incident on the A39 near Lidl. An eyewitness told Nub News the fire service was on the scene.

More updates when we get them.
