Defence Secretary Ben Wallace is given a tour of Falmouth by Cherilyn Mackrory.

Cherilyn Mackrory said it was a "pleasure" to welcome the Defence Secretary to Falmouth.

Ben Wallace MP visited Falmouth this week to meet apprentices at Pendennis Shipyard and A&P Falmouth.

Cherilyn said:

"It was a real pleasure to welcome the Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace MP, to Falmouth docks today.

"The purpose of the visit was to have a tour of Pendennis Shipyard Ltd, and A&P, and to meet with some of their apprentices. We spoke about the future of the docks and the exciting opportunities that could be in store for the town.

"We also spoke about housing, and the current issues we're facing in Falmouth, and across the whole of Cornwall.

"We have huge maritime potential in Falmouth and the job prospects at the docks for our children and young people are there in abundance. As well as this there are some fantastic apprenticeships and further education courses on offer in conjunction with the brilliant Falmouth Marine School.

"I was pleased to show the Defence Secretary both some of the tremendous positives we have in Falmouth and the challenges we face, and hope this will deservedly ensure he is able to highlight our town as both an excellent example of where working together and getting things right, but also one where there are so many opportunities for future growth and investment. I will continue to make the case to government colleagues for just that."
