Falmouth Town Council has praised the actions of residents for the clean up in the local area following bonfire night.

Residents took on the job themselves clearing up fireworks and rubbish from yesterday evening.

Marine flares were discovered by the coastguard discarded around a field near Gyllynvase Beach yesterday night.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency echoed the warning saying,

"flares should only ever be used in distress situations and not for entertainment."

A spokesperson for Falmouth Town Council commented:

"On behalf of everyone here at Falmouth Town Council, we would like to say a big thank you to the residents who took it upon themselves to clean & clear up Trescobeas/Lambs Lane park this morning after finding numerous amounts of fireworks and rubbish discarded from last night."
