A small group of travellers that made camp on land at Ships and Castles have been ordered to leave.

The land is owned by Cornwall Council but leased to Pendennis Castle, an area known as Hornworks.

A direction to leave notice has been issued to the travellers, requesting they leave the site by Wednesday (7th) at 10am.

Revealed to Nub News by Cornwall Council, plans are already progressing to put boulders on the site to prevent this from happening in the future.

Images of the travellers were shared by Councillor David Saunby, who visited the site and saw they had broken wooden fence posts to get to the site.

Mr Saunby also put forward the idea for boulders on the site, which now appears to be gathering pace.

A Cornwall Council spokesperson told Nub News:

"A notice has been served on the group, requiring them to vacate the site by 10am on Wednesday (July 7th).

"Plans were already in place to install boulders at the site, and this will progress once the area is clear."
