Cornwall RLFC winger Harry Aaronson has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of 2023.

The former Swinton, Keighley and Oldham flyer has been one of Cornwall's stand-out performers during the club's debut Betfred League 1 season.

Aaronson currently tops the try-scoring charts at the Memorial Ground with eight.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye with several lengths of the field efforts, followed by a range of differing celebrations, which has further endeared him to the Duchy faithful.

"I've said it before and I just want to reiterate the point that this year has been my most enjoyable playing rugby league to date," Aaronson told cornwallrlfc.co.uk.

"I know the results haven't gone our way, but the team, the project and the environment itself has been really enjoyable. It is a great club to be a part of and they have done everything properly to set us up for success in the long term.

"It was a no-brainer to sign for next year and I wanted to commit as soon as I could so here we are.

"The club and I sat down after a game about a month ago and we sorted things out straight away. The club was in the same mindset as me because it wanted me to stay.

"I wanted to stay so things moved pretty quickly and hopefully we can have a successful season in 2023."

After Aaronson agreed to extend his stay with Cornwall into a second year, the club's general manager John Beach said: "We are delighted to have secured Harry's services for the 2023 Betfred League 1 campaign.

"He has been instrumental in helping the club lay its foundations while growing and developing as a professional rugby league entity.

"To have a player of Harry's calibre, someone who has enjoyed a huge amount of success at this level, come back for another year, shows that we have made giant strides forward in our short history.

Meanwhile, Cornwall head coach Neil Kelly, added: "I would see it as something of a coup to have signed Harry for next year.

"His qualities on the pitch have been there for all to see and he is one of the most dangerous runners in open play at this level. By Harry coming back for 2023, it gives our recruitment a huge boost as we look forward to continuing this team's progress beyond the current season."
