A 17-year-old girl from Falmouth is hoping to get residents involved in a new social media movement, "Cornwall Rise Up."

The Cornwall Rise Up Project is a movement designed to encourage hope during Coronavirus. Set up by Hollie, who is a musician from Cornwall, she is appealing for people to get involved and "help Cornwall to rise up in the face of adversity."

Hollie told Nub News:

"I've set this project up because we are facing a difficult and challenging time due to the Coronavirus pandemic. There are lots of stories of loss and separation and in light of this, I decided that I wanted to create a social media movement that unites us and will hopefully spread some hope and joy to people. If I only make ten people smile, then I think it will have been worth it."

Cornwall Rise Up is a project in which Hollie will aim to create a cover of 'Rise Up' by Andra Day with pictures of Cornish essential workers incorporated into the video.

She also already has a YouTube channel which she posts covers and original songs on and is hoping this can be her latest video.

Hollie said:

"You can search "Cornwall Rise Up" on Facebook and follow the 4 steps on the page. It takes about 5-10 minutes and is super easy! I need as many images as I can get so that I can make the video a true representation of the amazing work that essential workers are doing all over Cornwall. Even if you're not an essential worker, it is likely that one of your friends or family is, so please share the project with them and follow the page."

The project is in its early stages right now but Hollie has big ambitions, she added:

"My main aim is to create this video which will hopefully be shared all across Cornwall and possibly even further afield, making people smile and sharing some of the faces of the wonderful people that are keeping going despite the adversities.

"I believe that there is something powerful in people standing together and saying that we will rise out of this difficult time."
