The Falmouth Oyster Festival is well underway now and Thursday in particular saw students from Cornwall College take to the festival stage.
Lecturers Nick Batten & Ashley Carkeet led a cooking demonstration, aided by four of their catering students.
Working in amongst the festival crowd was the college travel and tourism course, an opportunity which gives them valuable work experience.
Study Programme Manager for Travel and Tourism at Cornwall College in Camborne, Suzette Sadler, told Nub News: "We have worked with the organisers of the Oyster Festival for a number of years now, that is Falmouth Festivals and now Falmouth Events.
"It is just a fantastic experience for our students to put the theory into practice and to work alongside industry professionals.
"The organisers of the event give our students a lot of responsibility, so they are all working independently and they are engaging with visitors to the area and all the locals who also like to come to the event."
Cooking on stage also comes with its pressures, Suzette Sadler, added: "The students are supporting our lecturers today and cooking with them, it is the first time they have undertaken anything like this so it is quite a nerve-racking experience but they are all ready for it.
"It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, fantastic for their CVs."
The college had fifteen students at the festival on Thursday and there was another group working today.
Bethany Jelbert, studying Travel and Tourism at Cornwall College, said: "Our course induction milestone has been 'How to Provide a Warm Welcome' so coming here today has given us the chance to put what we have learnt into practice and experience an important Cornish event first hand."
