If you pop down to Quay Street in Falmouth you will find that the Real Speed premises has had a bit of a makeover.

Along with a name change to Fiona Speed Designs, the ceiling has been repainted, carpets replaced and the original entrance of the building reinstated.

Owned by Fiona Speed, the shop is a Cornish lifestyle store offering unique clothing and homewares.

She has spent the last five weeks over lockdown rebranding and refurbishing the shop at 4 Quay Street.

Fiona told Nub News:

"After two years in the building, that was formally the town jail in 1660 and then Shades Nightclub for about forty years, I have reinstated the original entrance through the passageway doors into my shop.

"Removing the Nightclub cloakroom and taking up the carpet to reveal the original stone floor.

"Dubby the Cornish tortoise now sits in the entrance passage to welcome you.

"Fiona Speed Designs encapsulates Dubby the Cornish Tortoise, Fiona Florence Speed Fine Art (FFS) and Real Speed.

"My approach to life is encompassed in my work by my motto:

Festina Lente- Make Haste Slowly - Dreckly."

Everything in the shop is designed in the studio at the back of the shop - pop in and have a browse open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm.
