The Falmouth community has rallied behind a local cafe owner following a knifepoint robbery yesterday (28th).

Police received a call from Castle Beach Cafe yesterday at around 8am to a report that an armed man demanded money from the cash register.

The man made off with money from the float, and the cafe closed for the remainder of the day.

Cafe owner Fiona Crump is an important figure in the town, among other brilliant efforts, she provided free kids meals at half term during the pandemic.

Now, the Falmouth community has got behind Fiona and the business to cover the cost of the takings lost, along with raising enough money to fund the purchase of a new security system, and installation for the cafe.

The cafe reopened for business this morning, Fiona added:

"Please don't be angry on my behalf - there's too much anger in the world already. I am genuinely not angry.

"Mostly I feel sad that a frightened young man could be so desperate that robbing me on a Monday morning seemed like a good idea. I am sad that he did not know he could simply ask for help.

"Today is a day to restore peace and enjoy the view. And if you get a chance to be kind to someone please take it."
