Yesterday afternoon the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to a report of a person suffering a 'medical episode', near Grebe Beach, Mawnan Smith.

On scene was also South West Ambulance Service, Falmouth Lifeboat (ALB) and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.

A casualty assessment was carried out on board the vessel by a 'Winchman Paramedic.'

A spokesperson for Falmouth Coastguard said:

"We established a helicopter landing site (HLS) at Bosveal and the aircraft landed on while casualty assessment was carried out.

"The casualty and paramedic were then transferred from the vessel to the Lifeboats 'Y Boat' (a small inflatable, ideal for shallower water) and were brought to shore at Durgan Village and transferred to a waiting Ambulance.

"Team members then transported the Winchman back to the aircraft at Bosveal."

The coastguard also reminded people to keep their distance and dogs on leads if they see a helicopter landing, "it's not every day we need to land an aircraft in the middle of a footpath, but sometimes it's necessary. Thanks to the majority of people that kept their distance," they added.
