Close call for stricken yacht in Falmouth

A Falmouth yacht had a close call when its mooring rope severed and it drifted in strong winds towards the Greenbank Hotel yesterday morning.

Good fortune smiled upon the yacht owner as the tide was at a height that meant it grounded before smashing into the jetty wall yet remained upright with no soul on board.

Thanks to some prompt action on the part of the Falmouth pilot crew, they were able to tow it back out to its mooring before any further damage was sustained to the craft. The owners can "keep smiling."
