A local garage has warned drivers in Falmouth that activists have been targeting cars and deflating their tyres.

Graham Johnsen, who works at Falmouth Tyres, shared on social media yesterday (24 August) that two customers had come into the garage with flat tyres and a flyer attached to their car.

In the warning, that Graham posted, he explained that tyres are being deflated by the valve and there have been no punctures detected.

One of the vehicles targeted was on Erisy Terrace while the other was on Wellington Terrace. Graham reminded drivers to be careful and to check their tyres before driving away.

The flyers attached to the cars say in bold writing "ATTENTION - your gas guzzler kills" and then explains that they are focused on SUVs and 4x4s while labelling them as a disaster for the climate.

It is made clear in the text that they are taking these actions as "The world is facing a climate emergency" they then give more reasons for aiming their campaign at SUVs.

The flyer says: "SUVs cause more air pollution than smaller cars. SUVs are more likely to kill people than normal cars in collisions. Psychological studies show SUV drivers are more likely to take risks on the road. SUVs are unnecessary and pure vanity."

At the bottom of the message is the address of a website, the flyer is available to download as PDF for people that want to join their cause.
