Falmouth MP Cherilyn Mackrory has welcomed the news that the Government is injecting £4 billion into the UK's regional shipbuilding industry.

The multi-billion-pound investment will galvanise and support shipyards and suppliers across the UK, delivering a pipeline of more than 150 new naval and civil vessels for the UK over the next 30 years.

The new funding and refreshed National Shipbuilding Strategy will transform UK shipbuilding – creating high-quality jobs, driving new investment in technology, and levelling up across every dock, port, and shipyard in the UK.

Cherilyn commented:

"Falmouth docks and our fantastic port and shipyards play a vital role in the economy and community of Falmouth, and I am delighted this funding and strategy will help secure their long-term future.

"I look forward to working closely with the Government to ensure this funding and strategy delivers local jobs, strengthens local manufacturers in the supply chain, and ensures Falmouth plays a prominent role in cementing the UK's position as a world-leading shipbuilding power."
