Cherilyn Mackrory, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, has visited the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth to discuss how the recent near half a million in Government funding, via the Culture Recovery Fund, will be spent.

During her visit, Cherilyn met with the team that manages the museum and had a tour of the site.

Cherilyn said:

"The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is rightly acknowledged as one of the best visitor attractions across Cornwall, a real jewel in the crown of Falmouth's tourism offer, as well as being a fantastic resource for our maritime culture and history.

"It was a real privilege to the visit the museum and hear from the team first hand how they have been able to re-open in a COVID-19 safe way, and it was particularly good to see the new Monsters of the Deep exhibition, which I am sure will be a real highlight to future visitors.

"I am pleased to see this Government's funding for attractions like the National Maritime Museum drawn down with plans already in place for its spending, and I will continue to do all I can to ensure businesses across my constituency receive their share of the funding that is available."

Simon Sherrard, Chairman of Trustees at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall added:

"This grant will help secure our work for the foreseeable future and will enable us to keep our doors open to our visitors. We are incredibly thankful to receive this vital funding."
