The way Falmouth residents have their recycling collected could be about to change temporarily after an increase in the amount of rubbish, recycling and garden waste that is being put out for collection.
The move was announced on social media by Cornwall Council, saying:
"We're making a temporary change to how we collect recycling in some areas.
"We'll be using vehicles we normally use to collect rubbish to pick up recycling instead in certain areas.
"Our rubbish trucks are bigger than our recycling trucks, so it will save us from having to make return journeys to the recycling facilities every time the trucks fill up.
"Doing this will help us to make sure we get to everybody in good time on each day's recycling round.
"Please help us by flat packing your cardboard boxes before putting them out for collection."
A spokesperson for Cornwall Council added:
"We cannot say exactly where the lorries will be used as it is being done on a day by day needs-only basis. These lorries will only collect one material, e.g. cardboard, and will be accompanying the other recycling vehicle which will collect the rest.
"We can assure residents that all material collected for recycling will be taken to the Materials Recycling Facilities."
