Busy season ahead for new owner of Castle Beach Cafe following reopening

Excitement has been building around the reopening of Castle Beach Cafe.

Emily Davidson takes over after Fiona Crump decided to hand over the reins - enjoying life behind the counter and relaxing with a coffee instead of making them.

Speaking to Nub News on opening day (Tuesday 15th), Emily has hired four new members of staff and said the team is looking forward to a busy season, welcoming back old and new customers.

Some of the new things that you'll notice at the cafe are more cakes made in-house after a talented baker joined the team.

The menu has been made more seasonal adding sourdough toasties - salads and cold sandwiches will be returning for the summer. With a smaller menu, Emily hopes to reduce wastage of fresh food whilst keeping everything to a high quality.

A lot of the food is sourced locally as well, using Vicky's Bread, Cornish Sea Salt, and Cornish Cheddar.

Emily is also keen on keeping green, the cafe's energy is from 100% British renewables, maintaining a really strict plastic-free policy.

"Just trying to do the best for the county and the planet. Really enjoying being back and seeing familiar faces, not a bad view to have every day," Emily said.

The cafe closed for the winter at the end of October - Emily has been busy decorating the cafe with a helping hand from her dad.

They have added extra storage inside, a new roof, painting, and weather protecting the outside.

Emily worked alongside Fiona for three seasons - she has been a regular source of support for a smooth transition.

Emily added:

"She was one of my first customers and got her usual flat white coffee. It has been lovely to have her support and guidance throughout all of this. We are really good friends."

The cafe is open 10am-4pm Monday to Sunday.
