Director of Rugby Graham Whitmore is set to step down after eight years at the helm - with a new face taking up the position, Falmouth Rugby Club revealed this morning.
Josh Lord will be taking up the position, in what he has called an "exciting time at Falmouth", and the club a "sleeping giant".
Along with the changes in coaching structure, Rob Coote will be the new player/coach, and Tom Spiller with remain as the captain but also taking on the role of player/coach.
In a video shared by Falmouth Rugby Club, it was revealed that Graham Whitmore will be stepping down from his post but "not away".
Speaking on the clubs social media to Kevin Bishop, Graham Whitmore said:
"Over the last eight years, just to see the club progress and see where we stand now as a community club, the progression of the club over the last eight years has risen year by year. We are now in a position where we have solidified ourselves as a senior club in the county and I am very proud of that, and we as a team are really proud of that."
Incoming Director of Rugby Josh Lord is Cornish born and bred, growing up around Newquay, playing rugby at Truro, moved to Bath, and came back down to play for the Cornish Pirates and the Cornish All Blacks, moving into coaching in his late 20s.
He has coached at Truro, coached the Cornwall Under 20s, and has now made his way to Falmouth.
Josh commented:
"It is going to be an exciting time at Falmouth, it is like a sleeping giant, there is a lot of potential here, fantastic club, fantastic facilities, it has some new faces coming in and the club has the potential to do very well.
"Biggest challenge will be keeping a core of players, making sure everyone is here, buying into what we want to do and wanting to do it every week.
"There already is a good core of players here but we could do with getting a few more players in. The style of rugby we want to play and the things we want to do in training, I think that will attract more players as we go along."
Captain Tom Spiller will be taking on a new role of player/coach, speaking on his hopes for the upcoming season, he added:
"At the end of the day we want to become a group of lads that want to be around each other and want to have fun on a Saturday, we want to enjoy playing rugby together, and what better place to do it than Falmouth Rugby Club."
