A successful weekend of celebrations in Falmouth to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Falmouth Town Council put together a series of events to commemorate a momentous occasion as Queen Elizabeth II celebrated 70 years on the throne.

Events kicked off on Thursday (2nd) with a beacon lighting at Pendennis Castle. Other events included a Jubilee parade, street party, and picnic in the park.

Falmouth celebrated big and in style for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Mayor of Falmouth Steve Eva reflected on a busy weekend, saying: "I am extremely pleased with the Jubilee events held in Falmouth. I would like to thank the people involved with putting them on.

"I kicked off with the Lord Lt Parade in Truro on Thursday morning which was well attended and followed up with the Beacon Lighting at Pendennis Castle in the evening which saw around 500 people coming to watch.

"Friday lunchtime saw the Mayor's Parade in Falmouth setting off at 12:30 from the Moor led by the brilliant Falmouth Town Marine Band. Many people joined the parade to show support for her majesty the queen. I was amazed by the turnout.

"On completion of the parade and after a few words from me thanking all those who took part and watching I attended the Tea Dance and Cream Tea at the Princess Pavilion. It was a glorious event and with fantastic weather.

"Saturday morning, I was off again visiting Happy Days nursery who held a Jubilee party for the children, and I was invited to attend. This was followed by our own Street Party in Market Street. We helped serve food to approximately 1500 people. This was also a great success despite the weather.

"Up again Sunday morning to attend a special jubilee service at the Parish church at 10:30 then to Kimberley Park for Jubilee in the Park and finally got to relax at home and some much-needed sleep. To sum up, a very busy few days which I will remember for the rest of my days. Once we have all caught our breath, I will hold a thank you evening for those members of staff that made this Jubilee so special."
