Excitement is building ahead of Penryn's Dickensian themed Christmas lights switch-on this weekend.

People are encouraged to come dressed up for the occasion and with an array of things going on this year, it is set to be a really special evening on Saturday (4th).

A road closure from Quay Hill, through Broad Street, to West Street will be in force from 6pm to 7:30pm.

The evening kicks off at 6:15pm outside Memorial Gardens, where there will be a procession to the Methodist Church on Lower Market Street.

Lights will be switched on at 6:30pm by former Mayor Charles (Chaz) Wenmoth.

There will be music from The Chorus, St Keverne Band, and Penryn Academy Choir.

Displays from Supreme Star Majorettes and Embrace Fitness & Dance.

Santa is making an appearance with his sleigh along with his grotto in the Town Hall.

Refreshments and mince pies will be served in the Temperance Hall.

There will be late-night shopping with many local businesses staying open for the night.
