The rugby community will be waiting for developments with Boris all set to make his next plan to start the long way back from lockdown.

The patience and abiding by the 'stay at homestay safe' message appears to be working as we head towards Spring and the traditional end of the rugby season.

It remains to be seen what can be salvaged and what is manageable for local clubs but Chairman, John Bullock, is sure that there is light at the end of the tunnel and he and his committee plan to be ready when the time is right.

Mark Atkins has ensured that RFU grants and loans ensure that the club remains on the right road to make the most of whatever the future holds for Falmouth RFC.

CRFU Cluster meetings this week, in consultation with RFU representative Johnny Stephenson, will also throw more detail out to the clubs so that a responsible and meaningful approach can be taken.

Perhaps 15 a side games, with the newer rule version being possible or perhaps intermediate games of smaller team numbers will be possible before the end of the season as many players will have felt deprived from putting their boots on and getting out on to the pitch.

Director of Rugby Graham Whitmore is looking forward to the day when Club captain Tom Spiller and the players can start-up training to meet the end of season and perhaps start to look forward to a Covid free 2021/2022 season and how that might look.

Colts rugby looks more immediately possible and Falmouth's Club Darren Beaconsall stating that his players will be ready to get into action as the new half term before Easter gets underway.

This club team have had an excellent early part of the season before lockdown with many talented catching the eye as good prospects. The future of local and Cornish rugby looks safe if this is the calibre of U18 players in the county.

Academy players and their coaches led by Pete Collet are also eagerly waiting for the opportunity to get back into the club and continue to enjoy their early progress in the game and emulate their players from the Six Nations Championship.

Most developments for a quicker return to some form of rugby action come from the O2 section. James Bunt and his Monday night players have drawn praise from the national ETA governing body as this aspect of the game will continue to grow and ETA wish to track this rise in playing membership.

Lou Casterton, Clubhouse Manager, is well aware that there will be many constraints and protocols to be properly in place so that the membership can enjoy the unique community that is Falmouth Rugby Club. But when it is safe she and her clubhouse team will be ready to make one and all welcome as the season restarts and appropriate Summer rugby activities can be introduced as the end to lockdown allows.

It remains a time to continue 'Stay Safe', but stay optimistic to wait and see what might be possible and when it is responsible to restart. It can't be long can it?
