A Falmouth family was given an amazing Mother's Day gift when they were reunited with their missing ferret.

Alma the Ferret, nine months old, went missing on Thursday night from Robert Hitchens Road.

Owner Sophie Wicks told Nub News:

"We were all absolutely devastated when we realised she was gone, especially the kids.

"We had to say she had gone to stay with a friend to my five year old son because he would have been crushed."

The family continued to follow leads from people who spotted Alma and didn't give up hope in finding her.

Multiple sightings were reported to the family; once in a ladies garden in Budock and again 1.7 miles away, running down Oakfield Road.

It was only when Mother's Day rolled around that the family saw Alma as they were driving near Budock. They managed to call out and pick her up before she could go any further.

Sophia Wicks added:

"It was the best Mother's Day present ever. So over the moon to have her home as she had lost a lot of weight."

Alma is now home safe and back to being her playful self.
