Trident Swim Challenge cancelled after safety concerns
A charity 1km-long swim organised by Falmouth Firefighters that was due to take place on Saturday 22 July has now been cancelled after concerns about the weather.
The Trident Swim Challenge raises money for The Fire Fighters Charity and Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club by the local station has now shared the disappointing news that the event can longer go ahead.
Falmouth Community Fire Station said: "Regrettably, we must cancel the Trident Swim scheduled for this Saturday at Gylly Beach, Falmouth. Our primary concern is your safety, and after closely monitoring the weather forecast, the anticipated SW winds of 20mph with gusts up to 34mph exceed safe working parameters for the event.
"We understand this may not be the news you were hoping for, but your well-being and the safety of the volunteers come first. We look forward to welcoming you to our future events under better weather conditions. All entries will be refunded.
"A special thank you to Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving Club who were going to provide assistance and Gylly Beach Café for offering to provide electric."
