There was another sighting yesterday morning of the Portuguese Man o' War.

Kitty Mcgubbins spotted the Man o' War at 10:30am on Maenporth Beach.

A picture was posted on a Facebook community group by Kitty with the caption:

"Saw this Washed up at Maenporth this morning, I think it's a Portuguese Man o' War? Just a warning to dogs on their morning stroll."

Jodie Holyoake from Your Shore Beach Rangers confirmed the picture was of a Portuguese man o' war. She told Nub News:

"We have received several reports of Portuguese Man o' War washing up on some of our Cornish beaches over the last few days, most likely bought in by the strong winds and Storm Brendan.

"If you do happen to come across one, please be careful and keep yourself and any dogs away. They can have a powerful sting which thankfully is not life-threatening except in a few extremely rare cases.

"All Portuguese Man o' War sightings should be reported to Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Marine Strandings Network at [email protected], as it's valuable data that provides us with information about the marine environment and the health of our marine creatures."

Some comments on the picture confirmed they had been spotted in other areas:

"There's loads on Swanpool too."

"Saw one in flushing yesterday."

"I see them often on the beaches! They are not rare here. It's nice to admire them, talk to your children about them and then walk away!"
