Nub News was recently given the first tour of the new art and design gallery Morgans on Arwenack Street, Falmouth.

Morgans is a family business that has developed out of many years of diverse experience in the Art and Design industries combined with a passion for Cornwall.

Owners Ann Morgan and Tony Holmes with their daughters Martha, Ella and Clara established Morgans with the purchase of 49 Arwenack Street in November 2019.

Since then the building has been redesigned and managed by Tony using local craftspeople for the complete renovation to provide gallery space and artist studios.

The three floors above the gallery are dedicated to studio spaces for practising artists, including painters, ceramicists and designers, whose work will also be showcased in the gallery.

There will be open studio events and opportunities to join classes run by the individual creatives.

Tony Holmes told Nub News:

"It has taken about 18 months to turn over the place and we have done a lot to it.

"The whole idea was to have a gallery that had interaction between artists and designers working in the building so it is not just an isolated gallery. We are really pleased with it.

"I have an architectural business restoring historic buildings, so this ties into my domestic work, it has been a passion to get this building into some kind of practical use and give it a new lease of life."
