Roseland Peninsula egg producer St Ewe has revealed that almost 20,000 eggs were sold in their recent Shell Out 2 Help Out Falmouth event.

St Ewe Free Range Eggs launched the Shell Out To Help Out campaign to support local communities and food banks.

On Saturday, at the Falmouth event, St Ewe has revealed that almost 20,000 eggs were sold - thus leading to a donation of 4,000 eggs to local food banks.

Such was the success of the event that St Ewe is returning to Falmouth this weekend, Saturday 10am-12pm.

St Ewe's crowdfunder reads:

"We, along with countless other packers in the UK, face the heart-breaking reality of having to throw away these perfectly edible eggs, right when they are needed most.

"It is from here that the idea for the Shell Out To Help Out campaign came about; to reduce food waste and supply tasty and nutritious eggs to those that need it most."

Since early January, St Ewe have been popping up at locations throughout Cornwall selling trays of free-range eggs to local communities.

For each tray sold at their current reduced price, 1 carton of eggs are donated to food banks across Cornwall to try and help ease the growing food poverty issue which is being exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you would like to support the campaign and get your eggs, see updates here.

Martin Glinski, Managing Director - St Ewe Free Range Eggs said:

"The Falmouth event went really well with sales of nearly 20,000 eggs, which will lead to a donation of 4,000 eggs for local food charities.

"We are really grateful to Falmouth Garden Centre and the Falmouth Pitch and Putt for allowing us to run the event in their car park. It was great to hear so many positive comments about the campaign from the customers on the day and even better to see their recipe photos posted on social media during the week.

"For those of you that can't make it to one of our pop-ups, you can still help those struggling in food poverty by flying on over to our Crowdfunder page and helping us to donate 5 times the eggs to those that need it most."
