Residents torn as 'ugly sight' residential ship gets Falmouth leaving date

Falmouth residents are divided at the news that one of Earth's largest privately-owned cruise ship, 'MS The World', will be departing the town.

A resident who enquired into the departure of the ship announced it would be leaving on the 14th September.

The massive ship docked in Falmouth back in May and the remaining 'essential' crew members have been isolating on it since.

Residents have been responding to the news, some happy with the departure claiming it is "an ugly sight".

One resident said: "Hooray, such an ugly sight."

Another resident said: "Not ugly at all, it shows Falmouth as a diverse, working port and harbour. We need ships and boats, all shapes and sizes."

A further resident added: "Why are people being so negative about something that brings a much-needed boost to a town that has been in decline for a while?"

Back at the end of May, a crew member on the ship sadly passed away.

The 57-year-old Columbian man's death was not treated as suspicious.

MS THE WORLD FACTS

MS The World is privately-owned (by around 150 families from 19 countries) and operated/managed by ResidenSea.

The ship has max passenger capacity (residents plus their guests) 200 (plus 280 staff-crew) and 12 decks (of which 7 with staterooms).

The vessel made a technical stop (for bunkering) in Gibraltar and slowly sailed to Falmouth. The ship departed from Australia and transitted the Suez Canal.

It has not been revealed where the ship will be sailing to next.
