The Red Arrows display, part of a host of Falmouth Week events, has been cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

The decision was announced by event organisers this evening, saying the team was gutted that the display could not go ahead.

The Red Arrows are unable to fly in this weather, with low cloud and drizzling rain.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Week added:

"A decision had to be made by the RAF Red Arrows team and we are gutted to announce that the red arrows will not be able to fly in this weather.

"Thanks to everyone involved and to everyone who has supported the display."

Falmouth Town Team followed up by commenting:

"There was hope earlier, due to slow clearing weather out west but a call has been made on safety grounds to cancel. We know this will disappoint many, but safety is paramount."
