The police have issued a response to reports of Falmouth and Penryn being targeted as part of 'National Rape Day'.

An international TikTok trend has been shared ahead of April 24th called 'National Rape Day' which calls for men to carry out sexual acts against women without their consent.

There has been rumours circulating it could spread to Falmouth and Penryn.

Reports have come to light of a Whatsapp group in Cornwall threatening to sexually assault women on this day.

Speaking to Nub News, Devon and Cornwall Police sought to reassure residents that they believe it is in no way localised to any specific town in Cornwall at this time.

A police spokesperson added:

"Police have received a report of the existence of the WhatsApp group and are currently making enquiries regarding the credibility of the group."
