Penryn's Nick Griffiths will release a new book next week.

A new book by Penryn-based author Nick Griffiths is published next week.

DeadStar: Who the hell was Garth Tyson? is a comedy novel based around the music scene of the 70s and 80s, which one reviewer described as 'a hilarious oral history... with heavy doses of Spinal Tap'.

One of the songs mentioned in the book by fictional band Speed of Life has also been recorded - Regan and Carter, created with local musician Mel Garside (ex Mediaeval Babes, now Moontwin).

Nick is originally from London where he wrote for the music press and Radio Times. The author of two Harrison Dextrose comic novels and the memoir, Dalek I Loved You, he moved here with his Cornish wife and young family 10 years ago.

DeadStar will be launched on Tuesday 25th January at Beerwolf Books from 6-8pm with a reading by Nick at 7pm, where books will also be on sale.

Copies can also be bought via his website here.
