Truro and Falmouth MP Cherilyn Mackrory has hit back at talk of a national lockdown saying it would "cripple" the local economy.
This week, Labour leader Keir Starmer called for a two to three-week national lockdown to control the spread of Coronavirus.
Keir Starmer said Boris Johnson had "lost control" of the virus.
In response to the calls for the 'circuit-breaker' full lockdown, Cherilyn Mackrory said:
"I am proud to be part of a community that has innovated through the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Businesses in Truro and Falmouth tell me they are experiencing an extended season which is much busier than normal for this time of year, despite the late start.
"Labour's lockdown would shut down Cornwall over the half term, which is normally the last part of the traditional season.
"In Cornwall we have kept our Covid-19 numbers down by being sensible, working together and following the rules. Anything further is unacceptable to me at present."
