A keen local swimmer has gained a new swimming buddy after capturing a deer taking an early morning dip this week.

Olivia Abbott was at Porth Saxon Beach, Mawnan, yesterday morning (29th) at 7:30am when she saw a male Roe Deer (or a buck) taking a leisurely swim.

"It was so wonderful. I go most mornings and feed the friendly robin, but not seen the swimming deer before," she told Nub News.

Deer can swim in oceans and deep water without drowning. This is possible because of the strong legs. The two-layered coat on the deer's body has hollow hair that provides buoyancy.
