Frustrations over proposal to change agreed conditions of Falmouth Rosslyn Hotel student development

The applicant behind Falmouth Rosslyn Hotel development has made an approach to change one of the conditions of the agreed plans.

Back in 2018 permission was granted to redevelop the Rosslyn Hotel, on Trescobeas Road, and turn it into a 117 bed student block.

The original agreement was to have 24-hour onsite management but the developer wants to change it to on-call - which has been met with some frustration by community groups and residents.

Sharing the application was Save Our Falmouth, a group of residents who are concerned with the volume of student developments popping up in the town.

Discussing the latest application to amend this condition, a Save Our Falmouth spokesperson commented:

"If conditions are made when a planning application is agreed should changes to these be considered?

"At the Rosslyn Hotel site condition 4b was that a 24-hour onsite management should be provided. The developer has now applied for this to be changed to an on-call security management scheme."

Although this amendment is awaiting a decision, residents have voiced opposition to the plans, one said:

"I object to the change to 4b from 'full-time management' to 'on call'. I believe that full-time management is vital for the safety and security of the students and the comfort and security of local householders."

A second added:

"As a neighbour of this property. I wholeheartedly object to this application. The cheek of this developer is baffling. The antisocial behaviour with the current student residents on Kimberley Park/Tregenver road is already enough every Saturday and Thursday night. Management should be present 24/7. To ensure the safety of students and the sanity of neighbours."
