Coronavirus: Falmouth residents receive first batch of free food

By The Editor 16th Sep 2021

The Falmouth Food Coop Kitchen cooked up the first batch of free meals for delivery yesterday at the Dracaena Centre, to deliver to those in self-isolation.

Those that sign up for meals are able to receive a main meal for each day of the week, with four supplied on a Monday and a further three on a Thursday.

For their first delivery the kitchen team cooked up pasta bolognaise, winter vegetable crumble, warming curry and leek and potato soup, accompanied by bread and a salad bag.

Volunteers then delivered meals around Falmouth and Penryn.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Food Coop Kitchen told Nub News:

"We are really grateful for the support and donations we have received so far through local businesses and people and can only see the need for meal delivery growing so welcome any donations to keep the project going.

"It's encouraging to see boxes full of healthy food going out to people who are isolating and in need of meals and we hope to continue to deliver for as many as we can."

The FFCK has been cooking for the Falmouth and Penryn community since January, holding pay-as-you-feel feasts. These events aim to support local producers while making food accessible to everyone.

Anyone in the Falmouth and Penryn area can sign up for food through the online form which can be found on their website.

Or alternatively, you can use their food hotline 01326 567526.

Food hygiene is being taken very seriously, with every measure taken to ensure meals are delivered in a secure and safe way.

FFCK runs entirely on a volunteer basis and welcomes any donations to support the purchasing of ingredients and supplies.

You can also donate anything that you can to this important cause at:
