Falmouth Town Council has called the locks and chains being cut off the gates at Trescobeas Park "mindless vandalism."

The news of the gates being vandalised was shared by Councillor David Saunby yesterday on social media.

Mr Saunby said, "it is a real shame that some people take great pride in vandalising Falmouth Town Council property."

The locks and chains were cut off the gates at the Children's Play Area recently in Trescobeas Park, which were put in place to try and protect people from coronavirus and stop people congregating in the evenings.

In his post on social media Councillor David Saunby added:

"The town council were complying with the current legislation of social gatherings, in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus, and to keep everyone as safe as possible.

"Obviously this has been ignored, by those who wish to vandalise, and not only do they put themselves at risk, but to others they may come in contact with."

This morning Falmouth Town Council confirmed the park will stay open, "unless access is abused or becomes difficult to manage," they said.

The play area, is open throughout the day 8:30 to 4:30.
