Falmouth tea room announces reopening

A Falmouth tea room has announced that they will be reopening this week for takeaway and delivery.

The Four-Teas Tea Room has told Nub News that they will be opening their doors on Thursday (28th May).

Four Teas will be serving their new 'Blitz' takeaway menu, which will include wartime classics, British classic dishes, puddings and healthy options.

The cafe has also told they will be serving 'Roast in a Box' on Sundays - 12pm - 4pm.

The cafe, unfortunately, ran into a loss of stock last month when owner Lynda and volunteer Angie found their power had been switched off after closing.

Due to being such a new business, Four Teas was not able to gain funding from the initial rollout from the government - which meant they were at an extreme set back.

Earlier in the month, the cafe didn't let the challenges define them and reopened to celebrate a successful VE Day with themed afternoon tea boxes.

Angie told Nub News:

"Things have been very financially difficult since lockdown and losing our freezer contents, but we are extremely excited to be back doing what we love and are good at.

"We have had to make adaptations to our menu and the 'Blitz' menu we have devised is varied but simple."

The cafe will be teaming up with Abacus Taxis to help with their deliveries.

"We have teamed up with Abacus Taxi's to take care of our deliveries, which should enable us to run on just two staff living in the same household," Angie said.

Following the recent news that Cornwall Council is giving out discretionary grants to the businesses that couldn't get funds the first time around - things are looking more and more up for Four Teas.

Angie told us: "We have just applied for a new discretionary grant from Cornwall Council which has become available to those small and micro businesses who have so far, not been able to receive any other grants, so we are keeping our fingers crossed."

The cafe will be open Thursday - Saturday: 5pm-9pm.
