The Eagles continued their good recent form with a second league win on the bounce against Chard on Saturday.

The victory lifts Falmouth up the Tribute Western Counties West table to ninth place and provides breathing space between them and the relegation places.

A lively start from Falmouth going 10-0 ahead in the first twenty minutes with two tries from Joe Martin. Pinned back after a Ben Thomas try for Chard but Dan Hubble made 15-5 before a penalty try made it 15-12 to Fal at half time.

A Paul Nichols pen levelled the score 15-15 which it remained until Colin Campbell scored in the corner with five minutes to go. Chard thought they'd drawn level at the death but they were pulled back for offside.

20-15 made it Falmouth's first away in a year in what director of rugby called a "demonstration of character and resilience in a real arm wrestle."

Falmouth team: O.Evans, D. Hubble, T. Job, R. Coote, E. Trotman, M. Horton, S. Thomas, T. Simmons, T. Spiller, T. Whittle, J. Martin, T. Vincent, A. Searle, A. Geach, L. Barkwill. Reps: D. Burroughs, C. Campbell, K. Bruce.

Meanwhile, back at the Rec, Falmouth 2's just lost to St Austell 10-17.
